Nature of Service
DropBag is an intermediation platform connecting travellers with independent storage partners (shops, hotels, cafés, and private hosts). DropBag does not own, operate, or manage the storage locations. The storage service is provided exclusively by the partner at their premises. DropBag acts solely as a technology intermediary and marketplace. You must be at least 16 years of age to use DropBag. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
Limitation of Liability
DropBag accepts no liability for damage, loss, or theft of items stored at partner locations. Every booking includes free Basic coverage up to €300. Users may upgrade to a paid Protection Plan for higher coverage. DropBag's liability is limited to the platform service fee paid for the booking in question. In no event shall DropBag be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from the use of the platform, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Baggage Protection Plans
Every booking includes free Basic coverage up to €300 at no extra cost. Optional paid upgrades: • Basic — Free → coverage up to €300 (included with every booking) • Silver — €1.50/booking → coverage up to €500 • Gold — €3.00/booking → coverage up to €1,500 • Platinum — €5.00/booking → coverage up to €3,000 Protection applies only to documented incidents (loss, damage, or theft) where check-in and check-out photos have been taken by the partner through the DropBag app. Claims must be submitted within 24 hours of check-out through the app. DropBag reserves the right to request additional evidence and may decline claims for prohibited items.
Cancellation and Refunds
Refund policy based on cancellation timing: • Cancelled before check-in, more than 24 hours in advance → 100% refund • Cancelled before check-in, less than 24 hours in advance → 50% refund • Cancelled after check-in (active booking) → prorated refund for remaining time • After check-out or no-show → no refund If a partner refuses an accepted booking without valid reason, the user receives a full refund automatically. DropCoins used in a booking are refunded proportionally to the cash refund rate. The €0.99 service fee pays for processing the booking and is not refundable on cancellations initiated by the customer, whatever the notice given (the refund percentages above apply to the rest of the price). If the booking cannot be fulfilled for reasons attributable to the partner or to DropBag, the customer is refunded in full, including the service fee.
Prohibited Items
The following items are strictly prohibited from storage: • Cash exceeding €200 or any negotiable instruments • Jewellery, watches, luxury goods (designer bags, high-end accessories) • High-value electronics (laptops, cameras, etc.) left unsealed • Original identity documents, passports, or official certificates • Illegal substances, narcotics, or weapons of any kind • Flammable, explosive, toxic, radioactive, or pressurised materials • Perishable food, organic matter, or items with strong odours • Live animals or biological specimens • Any item prohibited by applicable law Storing a prohibited item voids all coverage and protection plans without exception. The user bears full liability for any damage, harm, or consequential loss caused to the partner, third parties, or DropBag resulting from the storage of prohibited items. DropBag and its partners reserve the right to refuse, inspect, or report to authorities any bag deemed suspicious or dangerous.
Check-in and Check-out Verification
A check-in is only valid once the partner has scanned the booking QR code through the DropBag app, attached to the bag(s) a label or numbered tie with the booking seal code (private hosts must also close the zippers with a tamper-evident numbered zip tie), and taken the check-in photos (seal code visible; zippers) through the app. A check-out is confirmed once the partner has scanned the booking QR code and photographed the bag(s) returned through the app. If you cannot show the QR code, the partner may confirm the collection with your booking code and last name; DropBag reviews every such check-out and notifies you, and you should contact support within 48 hours if it was not you. Coverage is VOID if any of the following occur: • The check-in QR code was not scanned through the DropBag app • The check-in photo was not taken through the DropBag app • The bag had no label with the booking seal code, or, at a private host, no tamper-evident zip tie • The seal is found cut, broken, or tampered with at check-out In any of these cases, DropBag and its insurance partners are fully and unconditionally exempt from liability. The QR scans, photos, and timestamps constitute binding evidence for any dispute, protection claim, or legal proceeding.
DropCoins — Rewards Programme
DropBag awards DropCoins for completed bookings, reviews, community posts, daily logins, and referrals. DropCoins can be redeemed as booking credit (€0.01 per coin). DropCoins have no monetary value outside the platform and are non-transferable. DropBag reserves the right to modify or discontinue the DropCoins programme with 30 days' notice. DropCoins expire 180 days after they are awarded if not redeemed. You will receive a push notification 7 days before your coins expire.
Partner Right of Refusal
Partners have the absolute right to refuse any luggage they consider suspicious, dangerous, or in violation of these terms. In the event of refusal, the user will receive a full refund of the booking amount.
Abandoned Luggage
If luggage is not collected by the end of the booked period, DropBag will attempt to contact the user by push notification and email. Days 1–3: grace period, no additional charge. From Day 4: a €5/day storage penalty will be charged to the payment method on file. Booking requires the user to tick, at checkout, an explicit authorisation for DropBag to save the card used for the booking with its payment processor (Stripe) and to charge that card automatically, without further action from the user, for the penalties set out in these Terms; the penalty is calculated daily and charged at most once per day. If the card cannot be charged (for example because the bank requires authentication or the payment method used cannot be saved), DropBag will send a secure payment link by email and push notification. From Day 30: DropBag or the partner may remove, donate to a registered charity, sell, or lawfully dispose of the items to recover outstanding storage costs, in accordance with applicable law and with reasonable prior notice to the user. The user expressly accepts that this procedure constitutes reasonable notice of disposal and waives any claim against DropBag or the partner for items disposed of under this policy. DropBag accepts no liability for the condition, loss, or value of abandoned items after this process has been followed.
Right of Withdrawal (EU/PT Consumers)
Under EU Directive 2011/83/EU (Consumer Rights Directive), Art. 16(l), the right of withdrawal does not apply to contracts for the provision of services related to leisure activities where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance. Luggage storage bookings on DropBag are contracts for a service at a specific date and time, and therefore the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply. For users in Portugal, this exception is implemented by Art. 17(l) of Decree-Law 24/2014 (as amended by Decree-Law 84/2021). The same exemption applies under the equivalent consumer protection legislation of all EU member states implementing Directive 2011/83/EU. Additionally, by confirming a booking you expressly consent to the immediate commencement of the service. Once check-in has been completed by the partner, you acknowledge that the service is underway and waive any residual withdrawal right. Cancellations prior to check-in remain governed by the Cancellation and Refunds clause above.
Force Majeure
Neither DropBag nor its partners shall be liable for failure or delay in performing obligations under these Terms due to circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, fire, flood, earthquake, pandemic, epidemic, government restrictions or orders, civil unrest, strikes, utility failures, internet or telecommunications outages, or third-party service disruptions. In such events, the affected party shall notify the other as soon as reasonably practicable. If a force majeure event prevents a partner from making a location available for a confirmed booking, DropBag will issue the user a full refund of all amounts paid.
Dispute Resolution
If you have a complaint, contact us first at suporte@dropbag.dev. If we cannot resolve your complaint within 30 days, you may refer the dispute to an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) entity. In Portugal, the competent consumer arbitration entity is CNIACC (Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo) at www.arbitragemdeconsumo.org. You may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. This Agreement is governed by Portuguese law. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Data Processing and Privacy
By using DropBag you agree to the collection and processing of personal data (name, email, location, booking history, photos) as described in our Privacy Policy. Data is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You may request access, correction, or deletion of your data at any time via the app Settings.
